Ms. Tiffany Squires
Greetings Millard Hawk Families and Friends!
It is my pleasure to join you as our building principal this school year. For those of you whom I’ve yet to meet, I look forward to making your acquaintance at the school or at one of our many events to come throughout the school year. I would like to thank the Millard Hawk staff, students, and community for a warm welcome and a great start to our first of what I am sure will be many school years together.
I join you with experience as an elementary teacher across grade levels Pre-K through 5. A large part of my teaching career was spent at Cloverbank Elementary School in the Frontier Central School District. There, under the leadership of Principal Carol LoVullo, I was taught, along with many of my colleagues to be teacher leaders. Together we led programs and student services, and we piloted many of the academic programs (including 6 Trait Writing and Everyday Math) we value at Millard Hawk today. My experience here inspired within me a desire to contribute to the reform of education on a larger scale. The decision was difficult, but I left my classroom to pursue a career in administration.
I joined the Instructional Design, Development & Evaluation Department at Syracuse University and worked as a Graduate Assistant for the Advanced Interactive Discovery Environment (AIDE) project which researched NASA educational resources and their impact on K-12 education and the Enriching Literacy through Information Technology (E*LIT) project with the Center for Digital Literacy. It was here that I learned the importance of using technology as an effective tool for instruction and I have been teaching those concepts and strategies in schools ever since. While at SU, I also worked for Project Advance (SUPA) as an instructional designer on a team led by Rob Pusch.
My administrative internship work was completed with the Auburn Enlarged City School District where I enjoyed a multi-faceted experience at levels of instruction across K-12 including Elementary, Middle, and District level work. I also served as principal for the OASIS summer intervention program and as a consultant on instructional strategies in the subject areas of ELA and Technology.
Most recently I served as Principal for Cape Vincent Elementary School in the Thousand Islands Central School District. While at Cape Vincent we saw the implementation of a Distance Learning Lab, adopted a program for Family Involvement, established a Character Education program, and created Websites for all teachers and classrooms.
I am thrilled and proud to be joining the Central Square Central School District at Millard Hawk Primary School this year. I have found our school community to be warm, knowledgeable, and dedicated to our students. I look forward to working with you to build upon the strong foundation and history of our MHP past and to continue to develop what will surely be a bright and successful future for MHP.

Millard Hawk Primary (MHP) celebrates a history rich in quality instruction and character education.
Our school opened in 1993 under the leadership of Principal, Bonnie Misch. The Millard Hawk staff, PTA, and community has worked as a family over the past many years establishing our school as a model for good character, achieving the National School of Character recognition in 2004; Promising Practices awards in 2005, 2006, and 2007; and our PTA was recognized by NYS in 2009. Millard Hawk remains committed to these principles and ideals today.
Millard Hawk is one of six elementary schools in Central Square; the only primary building, housing more than 400 students from grades UPK-2. Our sister school, Central Square Intermediate (CSI), located just down the hill, houses our student population from Grades 3-5. MHP and CSI are committed to the bridge between our schools that connects our grade levels, building staffs, and families as one school community. Millard Hawk and CSI share a campus with Paul V Moore High School in Central Square NY.
Our qualified staff includes teachers in 5 to 6 homeroom sections per grade level, 1 UPK & 3 BOCES Pre-K classrooms; as well as resource, AIS, speech and language instruction, and occupational & physical therapies. Special Area instruction includes music, art, and physical education. We enjoy a full library –media center and technology lab, and many of our classrooms are equipped with SMART Board Technology.
