Mr. Eiffe

   On behalf of our community and the Cleveland Elementary family, welcome to our website!  CE is a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade building with approximately 230 students.  Located on the beautiful North Shore of Oneida Lake, about 14 miles east of Central Square, our school rests proudly in the village of Cleveland, New York.  At CE, one of six elementary schools in the Central Square School District, we pride ourselves on academic achievement, character education, community engagement, family involvement and student safety.  

   As do our sister schools in the CSSD, we offer a challenging academic program with curriculum in all core areas aligned with the New York State Standards.  The faculty of CE, both highly qualified and extremely motivated, is truly committed to providing a positive climate of encouragement and support ensuring the academic success and personal well being of each child.  Furthermore, our dedicated staff works tirelessly to engage our students and community, cultivate family participation and promote literacy as the key to the opportunities of life. 

   In addition to our devoted building personnel, each classroom contains Dell computers which students utilize in a variety of fashions including, reading, writing, math, inquiry-based research, projects and other creative activities provided by their teachers.  Cleveland Elementary also supplies our children with a computer lab and a large group instruction room possessing a “smart board” for staff to use during instruction.

   I am pleased to announce that the Central Square School District has recently adopted “Trophies”, an English Language Arts program by Harcourt Brace.  Considering the power and influence literacy has on our everyday lives, Cleveland Elementary strives to make reading, writing, speaking and listening an integral aspect of each moment of a child’s day.  Also, we are entering our fourth year of using the “Everyday Math” program.  Emphasizing a research-based approach to how children learn, perform and retain mathematics, this initiative provides students a routine opportunity to “do” math rather than merely learn about it.
